VISUAL ARTS RESIDENCY PROGRAM

The Visual Arts Residency at Casa Lü Sur provides artists with a secure and supportive environment in Mexico City’s historic Tlalpan district, designed specifically to enable creative exploration and professional growth. Dedicated studio practice is balanced by curated excursions, studio visits, and cultural exchanges, creating opportunities for meaningful dialogue with peers, local artists, and visiting practitioners. This structured yet flexible approach encourages artistic experimentation, critical reflection, and the development of innovative new work, culminating in a solo exhibition that invites residents to share their work with the broader community.

Support

Throughout the program, the Casa Lü team provides attentive support tailored to each artist’s needs, from sourcing materials and facilitating workshops to offering conceptual guidance and helping them navigate the local artistic and cultural context relevant to their projects.

Feedback and Open Studios
Regular feedback sessions, one-on-one meetings with local artists, and open studio events create space for constructive dialogue and peer exchange, supporting artists as they explore new directions and engage critically with their practice.

Excursions
Each week, residents are invited on curated visits to artist studios, exhibitions, and culturally significant sites. These excursions, hosted by members of our team, provide a deeper understanding of Mexico City’s artistic and cultural ecosystem.

Final Exhibition
On the residency’s final Saturday, residents open their studios to the public for a solo exhibition. This event offers a reflective closure to their time at Casa Lü Sur, celebrating the process as much as the work itself.
